Why use laundry soap? Laundry soap leaves your clothes feeling soft fresh and clean without the need of fabric softener. Laundry soap also gently washes your clothes and offers a great alternative to harsh detergents and strong perfumes. Gentle enough for baby laundry also.
2 part castile soap flakes (soap flakes are what you get when you shred our castile soap base blocks).
1 part washing soda, not baking soda!
1 part borax
4-5 drops essential per part (optional)
Mix items together and store in container. Add 1/8 - 1/4 cup to your laundry when washing clothes.
Alternative: Laundry Soap Gel
Add 10 parts water. Place water and soap flakes, borax, and washing soda on medium high heat until water boils. Turn off heat and stir. Add essential oils if any at this point. Laundry soap will be in liquid form. Pour into container. Allow 48 hrs for soap to gel. Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup to your laundry when washing clothes. The gel method makes the soap base last longer, but the dry method works if you are in a pinch!

Why make your own soap? Most soaps are made with a combination of animal fats and detergent. This makes a great cheap bar of soap suds up nicely on your skin, but it doesn't really clean your skin. Additionally commercial soaps tend to dry out your skin. This natural soap will leave your skin feeling soft, fresh and clean.
1 lb castile soap flakes or one of our other rebatch soap bases
1/4 to 1/2 cup water or milk
8-10 drops of an essential (optional)
1 - 2 teaspons of finely ground herbs for texture (optional)
Equipment:
- soap mold of some type
- Oven-safe dish
- Spatula or wooden spoon to stir
There are several ways to rebatch soap. We give one here. Other methods are included when you purchase one of our rebatch soap bases.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. If not already shredded, shred soap using a cheese grater or food processor. Make sure to wash your equipment thoroughly if you want to reuse for food. Place soap, liquid into oven-safe dish. Place dish in oven for approximately 1/2 hour. After 1/2 hour stir gently and check to see if soap has melted. If mixture seems dry, add a little more liquid and stir. You want your mixture to have the consistency of lumpy mashed potatoes or a bumpy applesauce. It will not reach a full liquid consistency and should be fairly thick. If you have a gel, you may have added to much liquid. You can add a little more shredded soap to your mixture.
Once your mixture reaches glop consistency, use oven mitts to remove from oven. At this point, you can add in your fragrances, herbs, or colorants. Stir and mix. Next, glop soap into molds. You may want to tap your mold slightly against the counter to tap out any air bubbles.
Let soap in molds harden. This may take anywhere from 1/2 - 1 hour depending on your mold. Next, place your mold in the freezer for about 10 minutes. This will aid in getting your soap to come out easily. Take soap out of freezer and place hand over mold. Your hand will warm the mold and create condensation. The soap should just pop out. If soap is resistant to release, place in freezer for an additional 5 minutes. Let soap cure for at least 3 weeks. Enjoy!

Ever wonder how to make bath bombs? Here is an easy to follow recipes that yields 3 -4 bath bombs.
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup baking soda
1 oz (approx 2 Tbsp) sweet almond oil
essential oil by the drop until scented as desired. We recommend the Lemongrass Essential oil.
a mold of some type. We recommend the sun face mold.
powdered green colorant (optional)
Mix citric acid and baking soda evenly. Add a pinch of colorant and mix. Drizzle and mix in avocado oil and essential oil. Slowly add water by the drop until mixture just barely starts to stick together. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ADD LITTLE AMOUNTS OF WATER, or you will end up with a bath bomb in your bowl. Once the reaction starts, it cannot be reversed and you will have to start over.
Once the bath bomb mixture starts to stick together, just slightly moist and clumpy like sand, press mixture in molds. Wait 2 minutes or until hardened. Flip bath bomb onto drying area (a paper towel on a dry surface is fine), and dry for 24 hours. Your bath bomb is now ready for use. Enjoy!
